The UK’s best value seaside towns – with Skegness at No.1, then Clacton-on-Sea & Great Yarmouth

WITH staycations back on the cards, many Brits will be looking to book a break this summer - meaning prices have surged for trips in peak season.

There are plenty of seaside resorts that won't break the bank though.

According to new data from holiday rentals company , the most in demand UK staycation destination where British families found the best value for money is Skegness in Lincolnshire.

This was based on destinations where Vrbo holidaymakers paid £35 or less per person, per night in 2020, compared to 2019. 

Skegness, Lincolnshire was the best value with an average price paid per person per night in 2020 of £21.

Clacton-on-Sea in Essex was second-best value, with an average price paid per person per night of £24.

Meanwhile Great Yarmouth in Norfolk was third on the list, with an average price per person per night of £25.

Other great value UK destinations included Lowestoft in Suffolk, Heacham and Hunstanton in Norfolk, Caernarfon in Wales, Filey in North Yorkshire and Bodmin in Cornwall.

The data comes from  which surveyed over 7,000 British families and asked about their travel habits and plans for 2021.

According to the data, over half of British families are planning on a summer break this year.

Self-catered holidays are welcoming guests back again from April 12, which includes sites such as caravan parks, but only with one household sharing a property.

Hotels will be able to reopen from May 17, welcoming guests back before the May bank holidays.

From June 21, there will be no restrictions on group sizes for holidays.

It's worth noting though, that the dates for coming out of lockdown are not set in stone.

Holidays will only happen on the condition that coronavirus cases continue to fall and vaccines still roll out at pace.
