Is Pakistan on the red list? Latest travel rules following announcement
PAKISTAN has been on the UK's red list since April 2021 as the country saw a surge in coronavirus cases.
But the government today announced some major changes to the system. Here's all you need to know.
Can I travel to Pakistan?
Since May, the number of flights to and from Pakistan has been restricted.
But that could all change now that Brits have been given the green light for holidays to the country.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps announced on September 17, 2021, that Pakistan will come off the red list from September 22, 2021.
It will instead be on the new 'rest of the world' list - which is essentially the green and amber lists combined.
Travel to these destinations is deemed safe under the new simplified system.

What are the current restrictions in Pakistan?
Pakistan is still under coronavirus restrictions.
There is currently a ban on indoor and outdoor dining in Islamabad Capital Territory and parts of Punjab province.
Face masks are still mandatory in public and not wearing one is punishable by a fine.
Public transport has restarted across Pakistan with some restrictions.
Worringly for travellers there is a risk that the healthcare system will come under significant strain as the number of Covif-19 cases increases.
This means access to routine and emergency healthcare may be limited.
Fully vaccinated Brits will be able to skip the pricey tests when returning from the country.
The pre-arrival test will be scrapped for UK travellers who have had both jabs, while the day two test no longer has to be a PCR test, but a cheaper lateral flow test.
Travellers will have to pay for the lateral flow as the NHS ones are not accepted, but are much cheaper, costing around £30.
Unvaxxed Brits, however, will face new restrictions - needing three Covid tests and a 10-day quarantine, even if returning from open countries.
