BEFORE you settle into your hotel room, there is one thing you should always change, according to a former staff member.
Janessa Richard, who used to work at hotels, said that staff never change the toilet paper between guests, even in the fancy hotels.
Revealing the gross secret on her TikTok account, she said they just disguise the fact it has been used by other guests.
She explained: "They do not change toilet paper tolls in between guests.
"If there's toilet paper left on the roll, they will leave it there and fold the end to make it look pretty."
However, she said it was her "personal experience" and wasn't always true for all hotels.
Some people didn't mind that it wasn't changed.
One person asked: "What's wrong with leaving the toilet paper? That would be A LOT waste if they changed every time."

Others said it would be bad for the environment if it was changed between each guest, especially if some only stay for the night.
When some people said they didn't mind, Janessa said: "When I pay $150-$200 for a room, I'd expect a clean toilet paper roll."
Some people did agree with her with one person replying: "I want new toilet paper too!"
Someone who used to work at a hotel added: "With the toilet paper I could have got in trouble when I worked I always put on fresh roll with paper still on."
Others had a more frugal approach: "I take the left over TP roll when I check out."
The toilet paper isn't the only thing that isn't changed, with ex-hotel cleaners also revealing that you may want to wash the glasses before using them.
One person, who said they worked as a cleaner at a five-star hotel, wrote on Reddit: "Never trust glass in rooms. [Cleaning staff] are so stretched thin on time that they will clean the glasses with the same rags they clean the bathroom, after all their goal is to make the room look clean."

Another poster agreed, saying: "It doesn’t matter if the room is $1000 a night. They still wash the tea cups in the bathroom sink or the bath tub."
And one ex-hotel worker explained why you should never eat the breakfast eggs or waffles either.
