Legoland reveals new attraction planning to open at the theme park next year
LEGOLAND has revealed plans for a new adventure golf attraction to open at the theme park.
If plans are approved, the new attraction is expected to open at the Windsor theme park in spring 2023.
The golf attraction will include three golf courses with Lego themes which will all be indoors, making it suitable year-round and in any weather.
It will be available as part of entry to the park and will have accommodation for guests who wish to stay overnight.
If approved, the golf course will be built on one of the existing car parks next to the theme park.
Legoland bosses have drawn up the plans in response to fears a new visitor attraction in Kent called London Resort - dubbed the UK's Disneyland - will draw guests away.
London Resort is a £2.5bn project which was initially expected to open in 2019, but due to the pandemic, disagreements with locals and wildlife protection laws, that date has been pushed back to 2025.
Legoland bosses have come up with the new attraction in an attempt to up it's game.
The new golf attraction plans were presented at a meeting of the Windsor Town Forum where consultation advisor to Legoland David Pugh explained what the new attraction will involve.
He said: "This is going to be a new type of attraction.
"This would be available for guests staying overnight to enjoy in the evening. It'll also be available as part of the entry to the park and, all being well, we very much hope to welcome guests from spring 2023 onwards."
"This is about attracting more people to the local area and doesn't just have to be enjoyed in warmer weather."
Plans will soon be submitted to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Council where it will be decided whether work will begin.
But if that has put you in the mood to visit Legoland, there is no need to wait until next year.
The theme park is offering short breaks with one-day park entry from £50pp during February half term.
