A frequent traveller has revealed the three ways to get an upgrade

He told his followers: "These are the hacks you need to know if you want to get an upgrade on your next flight.

"First one is simple, turn up early. The second thing you have to do is dress up smart.

"And finally, just ask! The worst that can happen is a no."

Someone said: "I can confirm this does work - has always worked for me."

Other people in the industry shared their own hacks in the comments.

One person who used to work as a check in agent said: "We used to get asked a lot and never give upgrades to those who ask. Just be nice and you have a higher chance.

"We tend to give to those who do not expect to get an upgrade just to surprise them. It’s something that our team did. Everyone I worked with did this

"We do get a lot of rude people checking in for some reason.. so a simple smile and a hello goes a long way.

When asked who they should speak to for an upgrade, Gabriel replied: "Anyone and everyone. But both at check in desk and at the gate."

Simon Marton, who worked as a flight attendant for five years, agreed, previously commenting: "There are three possible points of upgrade - at the checking desk, at the gate, and on board.

Flight attendants have revealed how checking in online means you are missing out on fancier seats.

And another flight attendant revealed that you should opt for a seat at the back of the plane, as this is more likely to get you bumped to first class for free, if the flight is quiet.
