Greece eases travel restrictions for Brits – just in time for half-term hols

GREECE has eased its travel restrictions, meaning Brits will be able to enter the country without needing a negative Covid test if they are fully vaccinated.

Currently air passengers, including children above the age of five, have to show a rapid antigen test taken 24 hours before arrival or a PCR test no more than 72 hours old to enter Greece.

But from February 7, these will no longer be needed for the fully vaccinated, making it much easier for Brits to visit the country.

Greece is expecting to see tourists return by next month, much earlier than usual.

Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias said: "Our country is preparing this year to welcome the visitors of the summer season from March 1, earlier than in any other year.

"Greek tourism has shown remarkable resilience in the past two years, sending a strong message of safety to travelers in our country and it will do the same this year."

To be fully vaccinated, Brits must have had their second jab less than nine months ago, or have had their booster jab.

Anyone with an older vaccine and no booster jab will be considered unvaccinated.

Greece still has strict rules when it comes to face masks, with everyone having to wear them in all indoor and public spaces.

If you don't have an N95/FFP2 mask then you have to wear two in some parts of the country which includes supermarkets and public transport.

Portugal has also scrapped pre-arrival Covid tests for Brits, so from next week, fully vaccinated Brits will no longer need to have any Covid tests to enter.

Other countries are tightening their entry rules, however.

To enter Spain, Brits must be fully vaccinated and cannot now use a negative Covid test or proof of recovery to enter.

France is also the same - vaccinated Brits won't be allowed to visit France if they received their second jab more than 270 days ago.

Thankfully, Brits returning to the UK won't need any tests from February 11, if fully jabbed.
