JET2 has cancelled all of their flights to Poland due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

The airline confirmed that flights to Krakow would be suspended from March 24 until May 26.

A drop in demand was also cited as the reason, with them planning to be reintroduced by the holiday season.

Flights affected operate from Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle Airport.

The airline said in a statement: "Due to current circumstances, we have taken the decision to suspend our flights and city breaks programmes to Krakow from 24th March up to and including 26th May."

Passengers will be given a full refund from their cancelled flights.

Jet2 added: "We are planning a phased restart to Krakow from 27th May and we will of course keep customers updated."

Around 1.3m people from Ukraine have already fled to Poland following the Russian invasion.

Jet2 is also the UK only airline to have scrapped mandatory face masks on their flights.

The Jet2 website states: "It’s no longer a legal requirement to wear a face mask at our airports or onboard our planes."

"However, as per UK Government guidance, we recommend that you continue to wear a face mask in these spaces, and you will need to wear one when you get to your overseas destination."

This applies to anyone travelling from England and Northern Ireland.

A spokesperson told Sun Online Travel that customers traveling from Scotland aged six and over must still wear a face mask.

Travellers will also still need to take face masks with them, as the airline warned "they will need to wear one when they get to their overseas destination".
