EasyJet scraps flights to popular holiday hotspot
EASYJET has scrapped all flights to a popular tourist destination in Egypt.
The airline confirmed that all flights to Hurghada will be cancelled until at least the end of July.
EasyJet said the reason behind the cancellation - which will affect summer holidays - was due to "industry-wide issues".
An easyJet spokesperson said: “There are industry-wide operational issues that are impacting airlines at the moment, which means we have made a number of pre-emptive cancellations.
"This includes all flights to Hurghada from the UK for the remainder of June and July. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause."
They said that any passengers affected will be contacted by the airline.

Passengers will be offered the option to rebook their flights, or get a voucher or refund.
A couple with a young child said they had to shell out £1,720 to return to the UK after their EasyJet flight from Hurghada was cancelled.
Askir Ali, 36, his wife Sabrina Begum, 30, and their six-year-old daughter Sophia, said they arrived at Hurghada Airport only to find out their flight had been cancelled with no explanation or alternative.
The family eventually landed in Manchester Airport at 1pm last Thursday, June 9, ten hours later than scheduled.

EasyJet also confirmed that they would be cancelling 600 flights this month due to staff shortages.
The cancellations over the last few weeks have seen passengers left thousands of pounds out of pocket, stranded abroad and even sleeping on airport floors.
Queues have swelled in the departure halls of airports such as Manchester, Bristol and Gatwick as the nation's airports buckle under the strain of post-Covid travel.
Just a few days ago, EasyJet pilots warned Brits to expect "frightening" disruption levels this summer, with more flight cancellations.
Amidst the latest travel chaos, Martin Lewis' has issued fresh advice to customers that they are due an alternative flight or full refund if their flights have been cancelled or delayed.

If the cancellation happened less than 14 days before departure you could be owed hundreds in compensation in addition as well.
The amount you are due will depend on the length of time between cancellation, the date you were due to fly, and the distance you were due to travel.
