Scarlett Moffatt reveals her top travel hack – and the embarrassing item she never holidays without

GOGGLEBOX star Scarlett Moffatt shot to A-list fame in 2016 when she was crowned Queen of the jungle for the 16th series of I'm A Celebrity.

Since then, the TV star has been lucky enough to travel the world, but surprisingly her top tip for going on holiday won't cost you a penny.

"Do you know what my biggest travel tip would be?" she says.

"Be nice to EVERYONE."

And by everyone - Scarlett means anyone that works in the airport, especially at the moment, with so much chaos.

"I always make sure I ask people how their day is going - of course they're going to help you more if you're a nice person."

She's also not one for glamour at airports - her solution to travelling long-haul is to ditch the jeans and opt for comfort.

"I'm not one of those people who looks glam in the airport and I'm always so envious of those people in white tailored trousers, a blazer and with matching luggage.

"I dress for comfort on a plane."

"I once wore jeans on a flight and thought I was going to implode!

"I kept going to that bathroom just to do undo them."

Comfy clothes aren't top of Moffatt's packing list though.

The one thing the star never boards a plane without is her childhood Noddy teddy.

"I've had it since I was three and he just goes everywhere with us," she laughs.

"I think it's because he makes us feel safe so I pack him in my bag for when I'm on the plane."

Despite having a job that’s taken her all over the world and to some lavish locations, the 31-year-old TV personality and self-confessed homebird’s next break won’t be to a glamorous resort in a far-flung destination.

Instead, she's opting for a staycation in our capital city.

And those wanting to do the same should look to her hometown of County Durham, which, she says, is a top beauty spot in the UK.

And what’s the absolute must-see attraction for anyone visiting?

– an outdoor theatre performance – that, she tells me, is simply spectacular.

“Two thousand people from the town volunteer to be actors in it.

“It goes through the entire history of England and there are fireworks and ships that rise out of the river.

"It’s just amazing.”

The medieval show in Bishop’s Auckland runs every Saturday from August to September.

But a trip to her local patch isn’t complete without one thing: a Parmo.

“We do THE best parmos!”

“It’s chicken with bechamel sauce on, cheese, chips and garlic - it sounds like a heart attack on a plate, but I promise it’s delicious!”

It’s not just food that draws Moffatt to certain destinations though, quite the history-buff, the TV star loves nothing more than an adventure to somewhere steeped in culture.

“This has changed with age, I used to really enjoy holidays where you're chilling by the pool and now I like to go to places where there's stuff to do.”

Over recent years the bubbly celeb has traded in fly-and-flop beach breaks for city escapes to European hot spots like Paris with the ancient city of Rome next on her hit list: “I’ve never been and I want to see the Vatican city, if not this year, next.”

But if you can't shell out for a trip abroad, you should explore some of this country.

“We’ve got so many wonderful places right here in the UK,” says Moffatt.

“I love Scotland and going to Edinburgh because of the history – I'm only an hour away on the train.”

And for those who are lucky enough to be getting on a plane in the coming months she has just one bit of advice - always wake up for breakfast.

Moffatt, who is working with Hampton by Hilton to look at , says, “Some of my friends will wake up past the time of breakfast and I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid for it, it’s free.”

And for her, the morning buffet – one of her highlights of any holiday – is all about the stodge.

“I’m a carbs sort of girl – I love waffles, those little potato tots, toast, croissants.”
