Brits warned of another Spain heatwave as forecasters predict temperatures will hit 40C in holiday hotspots
BRITS heading to Spain this summer are being warned of another heatwave that could see some parts of the country hitting 40C.
It is expected to be the third heatwave warning issued by Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
Brit holiday hotspot Gran Canaria is expected to hit as high as 37C, while other parts in the south are expected to reach over 40C.
An orange warning is in place for Cáceres and Badajoz, the provinces which form Extremadura, Salamanca, Ávila, Toledo, Seville, Córdoba, Jaén and Ourense.
A yellow warning is in place for the following areas: Andalusia, Madrid, the Basque Country, Aragon, Catilla y Leon, Catalonia, Navarre and La Rioja.
Spokesperson Rubén del Campo for AEMET - the Spanish Met Office - said the hot spell is likely to last until Thursday, with temperatures around three to four degrees warmer than usual.

They added: "It is possible that the thresholds of intensity, persistence and extension could mean we can officially classify this as another heatwave."
If it is classed as another heatwave, it will be the third for Spain this year, after last month saw temperatures hit 45.6C.
And June saw the "most intense [temperatures] for mid-June of at least the last 20 years," according to Mr del Campo.
The hot weather has also caused droughts and forest fires across the country.

The UK government has updated the travel advice for Brits heading to Spain in response.
The advice states: "There is currently a heightened risk of forest fires due to exceptionally high temperatures in Spain.
"Take care when visiting or driving through woodland areas. Access to some areas such as natural parks and nature reserves may be limited or closed as a result."
And a number of resorts have been forced to turn off the beach showers to preserve water.
They will be closed in three municipalities in the eastern stretch of the famous coastline - Rincon de la Victoria, Velez-Malaga and Algarrobo.
This means Brits on holiday in Andalusia and Malaga will be subject to the new restrictions.
