Inside the most remote pub in the UK – which you can only get to by boat or two-day HIKE
IF YOU fancy a challenge before your next pint, then try heading to the most remote pub in the UK.
The Old Forge is welcome to all guests - but you can only get there by boat or a two-day hike.
The pub officially holds the Guinness Record for being the most remote pub on the mainland in Britain.
To travel there by foot, you need to get to Kinloch Hourn in the Scottish Highlands, before going on the 18-mile hike to the village of Inverie on the coast of the Knoydart Peninsula.
If you want an easier drink, then there is a sea ferry route from Mallaig.
Don't expect all of the modern features you may be used to - there is no mobile signal, no streetlights, and no roads connecting it.

And there are just 100 locals, so don't expect to bump into huge crowds either.
But the pub is worth the trek, with craft beers and whiskeys on offer, as well as a house ale brewed down the road at Knoydart Brewery.
They also have Sunday sessions every fortnight for musicians.
While they are yet to open the restaurant, you can take in your own takeaway food from local restaurants including the Knoydart Woodfired Pizza.

It's the most remote mainland pub in Britain and can only be reached by ferry, chopper or gruelling two-day trek.
Last year, the pub was given £219,000 from the Government's levelling up pot to save it from shutting.
And after it was announced that the pub was going to be sold, a huge fundraiser turned over £320k to keep it open.
Now owned by locals who formed The Old Forge Community Benefit Society, there are new plans for the pub, including the restaurant next year.
Stephanie Harris, secretary of the society, said: "When you live in such a small community like we do, the pub plays such a bigger role than just a place to kind of go and eat and drink. It's a place where everyone can get together."
