Warning for 2023 holidays – why you should book your break now & how to find cheap fares
THE boss of low-cost airline Ryanair has warned holidaymakers not to expect cheap flights next summer.
Brits have faced soaring fares due to limited flights this year, after airlines were forced to cancel thousands of their routes due to staff shortages.
While many may have hoped cheap flights would be back by next summer, Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has warned this is unlikely.
He said during the airline's travel conference: "It’s inevitable that fares will go up.
"High oil prices mean they have to go up. There will be pressure on air fares into summer 2023."
Citing the energy crisis, he said it will affect the "whole of Europe this winter".

The airline recently added more than one million seats this winter in response to British Airways cancelling 10,000 flights until March 2023.
UK airline Loganair - the largest regional airline in the country - confirmed that 300 flights are being scrapped between November 2022 and March 2023.
And Wizz Air said that nearly all flights from Cardiff Airport will be cancelled for the next six months, citing "economic pressures".
O'Leary continued: "The overall market will struggle. The market in 2023 and 2024 will not return to pre-Covid levels.

"Where does inflation finish up? It depends how deep and dark the recession is and where the oil price settles.”
Brits wanting a holiday next summer but want to avoid the expensive fares should look at booking now, as many airlines and tour operators have already launched their 2023 fares.
And some tour operators let you pay off your holidays monthly, so you can avoid a huge payment in one go.
TUI has launched their 2023 holidays with Free Child Places, while their Spain holidays next year start from just £56 each a night.
