Spain holiday blow as strict Covid rules to be in place until at least November

BRITS with holidays booked for Spain this year have been warned that Covid rules will remain in place until at least November.

Spain is one of the few European holiday destinations which still requires Brits to be fully vaccinated or have a Covid test to enter.

This means having both jabs, with the second no more than 270 days old, or with the third booster.

If you are not vaccinated, then you have to have a negative Covid test, either a PCR taken within 72 hours of departure or an antigen test, taken within 24 hours of departure.

A Covid recovery certificate is also accepted.

The rules show no sign of being lifted, with them being enforced until November 15.

Seamus McCauley at has warned that holidaymakers could "easily miss" the rules which are still in place.

He said: "Making sure you’re fully prepared for your break needn’t take long.

"We’d recommend that everyone double-checks the entry rules for the destination they’re visiting in good time, and if eligible for their boosters – get them in good time, at least a fortnight before your departure date.”

Spain remains a popular holiday destination for Brits, especially in the winter months as the islands remain above 20C.

Most European counties have scrapped their Covid entry requirements, although Spain, along with the Netherlands and Slovakia still have them in place.

Brits also need to have at least three months left on their passport to enter Spain.

New rules are in place for Brits heading to EU countries, which have been in place since Brexit.

A second rule no longer allows passports to be more than 10 years old - previous rules allowed them to be up to 10 years and nine months.
