Bid for a Break offers holidaymakers the opportunity to bid for their next holiday each week on the tour operator’s mobile app.

The person with the lowest original bid will get the holiday for the price they offered.

Bids open at 9.00am on a Monday and can be placed until midday on Thursday, before the lowest unique bid is announced on the same day.

Neil is the 27th winner this year and secured a holiday for the same price as their lowest bid.

Holidaymakers have also successfully bid on and secured getaways to the Canary Islands, Greece, Cyprus, Spain, the Algarve, and Turkey.

Neil said: “I entered Bid for a Break as I’ve flown with Jet2 a couple of times and receive their regular emails about competitions.

"I saw the Bid for a Break competition and thought it is simple to enter and there is a chance of winning a fantastic holiday - so why not.

"I’ve entered the competition a couple of times before with bids of £25 and £19 but didn’t win.

"I thought surely nobody would go as low as £1.40, so I decided to try that, and to my surprise it was a winning bid. We’re all very excited about going to Cyprus.”

Other winners this year include Neil White, who booked his bargain trip to Poland through the Bid for a Break scheme.

Joanna Liburd also bagged a Jet2 trip trip to Cyprus for £1.40 in June this year.

She spent seven nights at The Royal Apollonia on the holiday island with return flights included.
