DO selfie sticks get up your nose? Well, here’s a reason to smile – they could be on their way out.
Sales of the telescopic annoyance are down by half according to John Lewis.
Perhaps people have realised an arm is fully sufficient to take a self portrait. Or maybe we just feel foolish using them – 71% of Brits do according to a YouGov poll.
Love them or loathe them, the writing has been on the wall for a while: they are banned at many large sporting events and music festivals, including Wimbledon and Coachella.
Even Disney takes a dim view: whip out your stick for the Main Street Parade and Micky is likely to give you a telling off.
And nowhere is this likely to be welcomed more than in good old Blighty: apparently we find the vanity sticks more annoying than anyone else.
Unlike the Chinese – 49% of whom are likely to use one on holiday – 39% of Brits say they can’t stand them.
Those figures are from flight search company Momondo, who took a survey of 1,000 people from 20 countries around the world this summer.
