A new Nintendo Land is opening at Universal Studios next year

Guests will enter via the iconic green pipe

Inside will be Princess Peach’s castle too

Characters such as Mario and Luigi will be available for meet and greets

Guests will enter the park via the iconic green pipe and through Princess Peach’s castle, entering the Mushroom Kingdom.

The main ride will be the Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge ride.

Guests sit in four-seat cars while using head-mounted AR goggles and moving along a ride track to collect coins and defeat Bowser.

The ride will be set in Bowser’s Castle although there are lots of other challenges in the land from popular characters such as Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Piranha Plant and Thwomp.

The land is already open in Japan, but it will be the first one in the US

The Mario Kart ride will use AR headsets

Power-Up Bands will let you track your scores and earn coins

Food will be served at the Toadstool cafe, with food such as Super Mushroom Soup and Toadstool Cheesy Garlic Knots, as well as snacks including ?-Block Tiramisu and Princess Peach Cupcakes.

Souvenirs will be available at the 1-UP Factory shop with Mario and Luigi themed items such as outfits, hats and plushies.

Guests will also be able to wear “Power-Up Bands” which will let you keep your team scores, collect digital keys and get special interations with the characters.

Tom Williams, chairman and CEO of Universal Parks & Resorts previously explained: ” You will be able to go up and keep score and play with the various games and that also translates to a score-keeping capability, if you choose to do so within the rides and it actually interfaces back with your game console.”

It opens on February 17, 2023.

The first Super Nintendo World opened in Japan last year, with other rides including Yoshi’s Adventures, an omnimover-style ride (used by Disney rides such as Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster).

A Super Nintendo World is also opening at Universal Orlando’s Epic Universe attraction in 2025.

There are also rumours of a Donkey Kong and Princess Peach ride at Universal Orlando, as part of a project called Project 314.

There are a number of other new theme parks and attractions opening in the next few years.

Disney World is opening a new Moana attraction, while a new Legoland is opening in Europe in 2027.

Here’s what you can expect from the new Peppa Pig World in the US.
