Travel chaos as UK airport cancels flights due to freezing fog

FREEZING fog sparked travel chaos this morning as flights were cancelled - leaving Brits stranded.

More than a dozen flights at London City Airport were called off on Wednesday.

Three British Airways flights heading to Dusseldorf, Rotterdam and Florence were cancelled - along with two arriving BA flights.

A London City Airport spokesperson warned passengers to check their flight details before travelling.

The airport's Twitter account read: "Due to the current adverse weather conditions please check your flights before arriving at the Airport, as we are currently experiencing several delays and cancellations."

It comes as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for freezing fog this morning.

Today's warning began at 3am, and is set to last through to 11am.

It comes after Gatwick Airport had to de-ice their fleet of planes yesterday as temperatures hovered around freezing.

But all flights remain operational at the airport.
