These are the best campsites in the UK – and you can stay from £6.25pp a night
THE UK’s leading outdoor accommodation booking platform, has revealed its top-ranked sites across the UK, as rated by campers following their own stays at these locations.
Two million holidaymakers booked to stay at one of the 2,369 live UK sites listed on Pitchup.com across England, Wales and Scotland in the past year.
Based on more than 159,000 customer reviews on the site from last year, each site was evaluated on aspects including location, value for money, quality of accommodation, activities and cleanliness.
To be considered in the ‘review awards’, sites must have a minimum of 20 reviews, and are scored out of ten.
Where one or more properties received overall 10 out of 10 ratings for reviews in 2022, they were then ranked in order of the number of reviews they received, from highest to lowest.
Trewall Farm, Cornwall
The overall winner across the entire UK was named as Trewall Farm in Cornwall, in the South-West of England, with an impressive score of 100 "perfect ten" reviews.

Located in Downderry near Looe, Cornwall, the family-run coastal campsite wowed guests with spectacular scenery, great value for money, cleanliness and friendly service.
Many commented that they would be returning, with cows and sheep grazing nearby, and the dark skies for stargazing being mentioned again and again in reviews.
The site will be open from May 26 this year and pitches are available from £22.
Combas Farm, Devon
In second place was Combas Farm, in Croyde, Devon, which also has an overall average rating of 10/10.
It's situated a half-hour walk from the beaches at Croyde and Woolacombe, while cosy pubs are also within walking distance.
Guests have been returning for years not only for the spectacular setting, but also the warm vibe that the owners have created: the words "friendly" and "helpful" crop up time and again in reviews.
An impressive 100 per cent of campers would recommend this site to their friends, while the facilities with hot showers, compostable toilets and a dry room for surfers’ wetsuits have also been praised.
Prices start from £32 per night for two adults for a non-electric grass tent.
Homestead Fields Caravan and Camping, Lincolnshire
In third place is Homestead Fields Caravan and Camping in Benniworth, Lincolnshire.
The peaceful two-acre park scored full marks from its 2022 guests.
Its location on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty means that there are some top walks and bike routes awaiting.
On site neighbours include fluffy alpacas, cute chickens and adorable pigs.
Prices start at £25 per night, based on four people sharing an electric grass and sand tent or trailer tent pitch, which works out at £6.25pp per night.
West Hale Gate Caravan Site, East Yorkshire
Next up is West Hale Gate Caravan Site in Burton Fleming, East Yorkshire.
Located on a working farm, this quiet Yorkshire Wolds caravan site is only a 15-minute drive away from the coast and the beaches at Filey and Bridlington.
Guests love it for its peaceful rural location, clean facilities and the complimentary welcome basket of fresh eggs as well as the quirky individual shower and toilet huts.
Prices start at £28 per night for an electric grass touring pitch based on two adults sharing.
Chalk Meadow, Dorset
In fifth spot is Chalk Meadow in Dorchester, Dorset.
The beautiful and secluded grass meadow on the outskirts of Broadmayne village in rural Dorset takes campers back to nature, with lots of safe space for kids to play and minimal facilities (toilets and hot showers).
There’s no electricity, but that’s part of the site’s rural charm. The nearest pub is just a 10-minute walk away and it’s only a 10-minute drive into Dorchester, or a 25-minute drive to the Jurassic Coast.
Prices start at £25 per night for two adults for a non-electric grass campervan pitch.

Pitchup’s founder Dan Yates said: “As ever, the South West of England is a popular choice, and these genuine reviews help to show just why it’s the busiest part of the country for holidaymakers.
"It’s also great to see lesser-known counties like Lincolnshire make the top ten, among a good spread across England and a Welsh entry, demonstrating that wherever you go in the UK, there are top quality sites to stay at.
"By clearly showing the average customer rating from past guests on all listings, and pulling through detailed reviews, we make it easy for people to see at a glance what to expect on their stay.”
