The very popular suitcases that are more likely to go missing from airports

A LUGGAGE expert has revealed why tourists shouldn't buy boring suitcases when preparing for a trip away.

Bags often go missing from airports, but there are a few things people can do to improve their chances of getting their stuff from the conveyor.

It turns out one of those is things is getting a brightly coloured case.

Boring ones can blend in with the crowd and be difficult to spot, or could even end up going home with someone else, who has mistaken it for their own luggage.

That's why Anthony Collias, co-founder of luggage storage service , recommends making a brighter choice.

He told : “It simplifies the task of identifying your bag on the carousel and minimises the risk of another passenger mistakenly picking it up."

Anthony had plenty of other useful advice for travellers to minimise the chances of their luggage disappearing at the airport.

One of which is to check bags in as early as possible.

He explained: “Endeavour to check in your luggage as early as you can. This provides airline staff with ample time to load your bags onto the aircraft.”

He also recommends taking photos of your bags - and everything inside - just in case the worst happens and it goes missing.

He revealed why that could make it easier to track down.

He continued: “These pictures can prove invaluable if your luggage is misplaced and you need to describe it to the airline or insurance firms."

If you don't want to fork out for a new suitcase, there are ways in which you can customise your current luggage items to make them stand out a bit more.

One of which is a luggage tag, which can be picked up from around £3.

A travel expert at the  revealed how the tags can keep your suitcase safe during a flight.

They  said: "Using luggage tags helps ensure that all of your belongings stay safe every step of the way.

"Not only will this add an extra layer of security to ensure nothing gets lost during travel, but it will also help you get your items back if they do end up misplaced.

"No one wants to arrive at their destination only to find out that all of their belongings are gone."

More travellers are also using AirTags in their suitcases to track them in case they go missing.

TikTok user Julianna Astrid, who is on the social media platform as , described an Apple AirTag as a "game changer" when it came to packing.

She said: "Who else hides an airtag in their luggage so you can always track it in case it gets lost while travelling?"
