I’m a flight attendant – passengers always make the same mistake with their luggage & it can delay your holiday
A FLIGHT attendant has revealed the common mistake passengers make while boarding which can delay your holiday.
Travellers often fly with hand luggage only these days, due to budget airlines charging to check in a bag.
But this has led to problems in the plane cabin due to a shortage of space in the overhead lockers.
Michael Clip, a flight attendant based in New York, told : "We can’t close the door for departure until everything is put away properly.
"If there’s no space for bags, we need to wait for an agent to come down to the aircraft and start tagging bags to gate check them. That takes time."
He warned that as "the amount of passengers in the aisle searching for space begins to grow, so does the likelihood the flight will depart late".

Las Vegas flight attendant Karina Kay backed this up as well.
She added: "So many passengers place all of their belongings in the overhead just to free up the area at their feet for legroom, and that creates an overhead space issue."
While low-cost airlines currently charge to take suitcases into the cabin, most will offer to check it for free if there is no space left.
However, some travellers have been left fuming when people take up space in the lockers for their coats and jumpers.

Tiktoker @HillnPoo told their followers to put coats and jackets either on their laps, or hang them on hooks that can be found of the back of most plane seats.
In on their account, they said: "If you plan to fly in 2023, please don't be the people who fill up an entire overhead cabinet with your jackets.
"Please keep them at your seat. It's an absolute waste of space. They could sit on your lap, or most airlines have hooks."
And don't even think about asking crew to lift your suitcases into the lockers.
Not only are they not allowed, but it could lead to them checking your bag into the hold.
