Reaching the island is also relatively easy for Brits; the easiest way is to fly to Split, which takes around 2 hours from the UK.

A ferry will take you directly to the island in approximately 50 minutes from there.

Many stunning beaches along the island's coastline, including Zlatni Rat Beach, a favourite among locals.

Zlatni Rat Beach has an unusually shaped sandbar and quiet coves scattered around, so it's a must-visit.

You'll be surrounded by crystal-clear waters, which is perfect for watersports.

The island is also great for culture lovers, as you can enjoy walking tours to discover the quaint history of the island.

You can visit centuries-old monasteries and stroll through historic olive trees that date back to Roman times.

The island has a population of 13,000, so it's already quiet in itself; however, if you wish to explore even further, many hidden gems are waiting to be uncovered.

For instance, you could visit the Dol village, tucked away amongst olive orchards and old stone homes.

While the village of Pucisca is known for its gorgeous harbour.

You could even discover the 'Dragon's Cave' site, a natural wonder with a fascinating interior and unique stories.

While Supetar is the main entrance port of entry and the biggest town on the island.

Here you'll find plenty of small businesses, local coffee shops and restaurants, all tucked within the medieval-looking alleyways.

The local restaurants will be a paradise for any foodies, as you'll find Mediterranean food made with fresh local ingredients and seafood specialities accompanied by regional wines.

Brač Island is also known for its olive oil, as it's made with a rare variety called 'buhavica'.
