New Wallace and Gromit attraction set to open in the UK this month – here’s what you can expect

A NEW attraction celebrating Britain's best-loved modelling clay duo, Wallace and Gromit, is set to open its doors later this month.

The pair have featured in several short films, and one feature length movie, since 1989 and this year marks the 30th anniversary of one of their most popular capers, The Wrong Trousers.

The film introduced the iconic villainous penguin Feathers McGraw and became an instant classic as Wallace and Gromit battled with the bird while he tried to use Wallace's inventions to commit a diamond heist.

It won an Oscar in 1994 for best animated short film.

To celebrate the milestone, the Cartoon Museum in London is hosting an exhibition that will allow fans to get behind the scenes of the film and see how it was made.

It will also feature a load of models, set pieces and artwork from the film, as they are put on display for the first time.

The museum said: "For the film’s 30th anniversary, The Cartoon Museum and Aardman are collaborating to bring you a truly spectacular exhibition that celebrates that legacy.

'We’ll be showcasing behind the screen shots showing the artists and studio as the film was made, set pieces and models seen for the first time in London, and plenty of surviving original artwork."

The exhibit will open on Tuesday, September 12 and will remain open for seven months, until Tuesday, April 16.

However, it's not the only Aardman-related even being hosted at the Cartoon Museum this year.

Those who visit on either Thursday, October 26 or Thursday, February 15 can double up and do a model-making workshop, while also seeing the exhibition.

The workshop will be run by Will Harding - one of Aardman Animation's own modelmakers, meaning guests will be in very capable hands.

The museum is running three workshops on the days, one at 2pm, one at 4pm and another at 7pm.

They are suitable for people aged 6+, however, they have requested that kids attend the afternoon class, rather than the evening session.

The museum website reads: "Workshops are suitable for age 6+, but we recommend the evening workshop for adults only."

Tickets are limited, and on sale now for £15pp.

London isn't the only place to see Wallace and Gromit characters this month either, with Shaun the Sheep visiting Brighton.

The beloved children's character also made his first appearance alongside Wallace and Gromit before starring in his own show.

He will be dotted around the seaside town between September 9 and November 5, as part of an art trail called .

More than 40 individually-designed Shaun the Sheep sculptures will be displayed around Brighton & Hove’s streets, parks and other public areas.

The installations are brought to the town by hospice care charity Martlet's.

The charity say that the "bold, brave and colourful designs will shine a light on the life-changing impact of hospice care".

They added: "Shaun by the Sea brings together a fantastic flock of Shauns, which represent the individuality and diversity of Brighton & Hove."
