The UK attractions you can visit for free from today but you have to be quick
SOME of the UK's best-loved attractions are set to open their doors completely free of charge this month, but only for a select few days.
The Heritage Open days will run from September 8-17, with people able to visit some of the UK's most beautiful National Trust houses and grounds, without paying for entrance.
Every year thousands of volunteers across the country organise events to celebrate the country's history and culture.
The Heritage Open Days website says: "Its your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are FREE to explore."
More than 5,000 events will be taking place as part of the event, which is described as "England's largest community led festival of history and culture".
Included in the places opening their doors for free are National Trust sites, which sometimes have pricey entrance fees.

In total, there are 144 National Trust sites that you can visit in person on the list, with other locations offering free online workshops and opening their gates at set times for performances and walking tours.
has revealed the most expensive National Trust grounds that can be visited for free during the open days.
They examined National Heritage Sites in the Heritage Open Days scheme, ranking them based on cost, and selected properties offering full house and garden access during the course of the scheme.
They looked at the cost of a family priced ticket for full property access (house and gardens), without the use of a National Trust pass.
Ranking in first place as the best value for money is Derbyshire’s Hardwick Hall & Stainsby Mill - ordinarily a family day out ticket for none-National Trust holders would set you back £42.50.
However, on September 9-10 this year, families can get entry to both the Elizabethan mansion and 200 acres of parkland for free.
The two-day event features engaging expert talks and the chance to explore the formal gardens, while discovering how the Elizabethans used plants in their everyday lives.
Visitors can even spin and dye their own piece of fabric.
Next on the list is Liverpool’s Speke Hall Gardens & Estate at £37.50 a ticket.
There visitors can take a tour of the ancient woodland and roam around the rare Tudor house.
Children will have access to an interactive play trail and hedge maze.
Ranking in third place is Polesden Lacey in Surrey with a family ticket costing the same as Speke Hall £37.50.
Located in the Surrey Hills, just 25 miles from London, Polesden Lacey is a 1,600 acre estate with a beautiful Edwardian house.
The top 10 list of the most expensive properties that can be visited for free is as follows:

- Polesden Lacey, Surrey, cost £37.50
- Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire, cost £37.50
- Cotehele, Cornwall, cost £35
- Arlington Court & National Trust Carriage Museum, cost £35
- Baddesley Clinton, Warwickshire, cost £35
- Croome, Hertfordshire, cost £35
- Hughenden, Buckinhamshire, cost £35
- Gibside, Gateshead, cost £35
Looking at the best value for money for families looking to explore the countryside outside of the scheme, East Riddlesden Hall, in West Yorkshire’s Keighly, is named the cheapest with a family ticket costing £13.75 for full house and garden access.
A family ticket admits two adults and up to three children, and is free for the under fives.
