Tobacco Dock in London is home to Europe’s only rooftop ice skating rink, which they have confirmed will be returning once again this year.

The Skylight rink offers more than just a chance to get your skates on too, with warm mulled drinks and festive food also available.

Guests can pre-book a 10-person heated igloo in which to sit and enjoy the surroundings.

The dock, situated in Wapping, has far-reaching views across the city, with the twinkling lights only adding to the festive atmosphere on the rooftop.

A 45 minute session on the ice costs £15, with other wintery experiences on offer.

The says: “Hold onto your earmuffs, because Europe’s only rooftop ice skating rink is coming back.

“Whether you are an ice-dancing pro or your style resembles a penguin’s first steps, you are in for some epic fun.

“We will have plenty of helper penguins on ice, that will have you sliding into giggles.

“£15pp gets you 45 minutes of ice skating, rentals included.”

The sessions are first-come first served and cannot be pre-booked.

The website continues: “After your 45 minute skate session, tuck into our cosy blankets and sip on some mulled wine for an unforgettable winter experience.

“Book a table or one of our heated igloos below and glide across the best views of London.”

Resident DJs will be also be on hand from Thursday to Saturday during the festive season.

Meanwhile, families are invited for special sessions on Sunday afternoons.

For those who don’t trust their feet on the ice, there are a number of other activities at the Tobacco Dock, including an indoor games room, with a bar.

In there, visitors will find indoor croquet courts, a ping pong table, shuffle board and a cosy sofa area to warm up in.

Elsewhere, there will be an “apres skate lodge” which promises to transport people “to the slopes” with cosy sheepskin rugs, warm timbers, mulled wine and bratwursts.

The ice rink will be back from November 10.

While it may be the only rooftop rink in the city, there are others that also promise great views.

Glide at Battersea Power Station has said visitors can expect “unrivalled” sights from its outdoor rink, while Henry VIII’s historic Tudor residence, Hampton Court Palace, will also be hosting skaters.

Meanwhile here are 25 of some of the best rinks in London and the South East to visit this year.

And this new Christmas theme park is coming to the UK for the first time this year.
