The budget Spanish beach town with the most sunny days a year – and even Hollywood A-listers love it
THE Costa del Sol is one of the most popular Spanish destinations loved by Brits.
Most holidaymakers head to Malaga or Marbella - but there is somewhere else that is becoming more popular.
Torremolinos was one of the first Spanish resorts along the Costa del Sol that Brits flocked to back in the 1950s.
A recent study found that not only is Torremolinos the happiest spot on the Costa del Sol, but it also has the most sunny days a year, according to a study conducted by and Resorts.
It also opened the country's first gay-friendly bar in 1962.
And despite its dropping in popularity over the years, it is slowly becoming a trendier destination.

According to local media, Torremolinos had a record-breaking August with its highest-ever overseas tourists and overnight stays.
A huge new £6million train station opened last year, which, makes it even easier to get to.
And most tourists will head to the five-mile-long stretch of sand, littered with bars and cafes.
With six beaches to choose from, one of the best is La Carihuela Beach, also the longest and welcomed many of the famous stars back in the day including Orson Welles and Grace Kelly.

Other beaches include Los Alamos, Playamar, Bajondillo and Montemar.
And make sure to pop into the many nightclubs, where you can find beers for as little as €1.60, according to holidaymakers.
One of the most photographed spots in Torremolinos is the Ruta de Murales, with murals featuring many of the town's famous visitors.
Samuel L Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, John Lennon and Frank Sinatra all feature, along with Picasso and Salvador Dali.

Tennis fans can even say they've played on courts used by Novak Djokovic, who has visited on several occasions.
A huge new £515million shopping centre hopes to open in Torremolinos, first announced in 2016 but has been plagued by delays and setbacks.
Don't worry if you miss the main season - the resort town is popular with the locals during the winter months, with bars and clubs remaining open.
Flights to Malaga from the UK take less than three hours and start from £14.99 with Ryanair.
Torremolinos is then a 10-minute train ride away.
A little-known Spanish seaside resort has soared in popularity in recent years.
