JET2 added thousands of seats to Sicily, Sardinia and Verona in Italy.
The expansion comes after ‘strong customer demand’ for Italian escapes, and the new flights will depart from eight UK airports.
The will start operating between 2024 and 2025, with the full line-up completed by summer 2025.
Sardinia
Since Sardinia is known as one of the ‘purest Italian experiences’ and is frequently included in travellers’ bucket list of European beach destinations, Jet2 has increased the number of flights for the late-summer period, starting from 2024.
Visiting Sardinia after August is a great idea, as you’ll still find warm temperatures hitting the low 30C but way fewer crowds.
The slightly milder temperature will make exploring comfortable without the intense heat, as there is so much more to see other than the beautiful beaches.
As summer crowds fade, September and October are the perfect time to visit the renowned beaches of Spiaggia della Pelosa and Cala Luna.
Away from the shores, you’ll have to visit the monuments of the Nuraghe di Palmavera and the ancient Tharros.
Elsewhere, the Gennargentu National Park provides a breathtaking scenery of rocky mountains, deep canyons and a rare variety of species, making it a haven for those who enjoy hiking and wildlife spotting.
Many cultural events are happening over that period, like the ‘Autunno in Barbagia’, one of the most important craft and food festivals in Sardinia.
Speaking of food, Sardinia is a heaven for foodies – with many culinary tours, wine tasting and restaurants to try out.
The new flights from the UK to Sardinia will be from:
- from April 2025
- from September 2024
- from November 2024
Sicily
Sicily is also becoming a top-rated tourist destination for Brits, and it usually is slightly cheaper than Sardinia – but equally as beautiful.
With temperatures in the comfortable mid-20s to low-30s, the shoulder seasons are the best months to discover this treasure of Italy.
Here, you’ll have to stop by the famous beaches of San Vito Lo Capo, Taormina, Cefalù and Mondello.
But Sicily isn’t all about the beaches, as there is plenty to explore inland. For instance, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento is a must-see for history buffs.
As many culinary festivals occur, late summer is a great time to visit and enjoy Sicilian food.
Wine lovers will also enjoy the wine tasting in the vineyards surrounding Mount Etna – which can also be hiked and has some of the best views on the island.

Verona
Verona is the last Italian destination receiving an expansion, thanks to its access to Lake Garda and potential as the ultimate romantic city break with Romeo and Juliet undertones.
Brits are drawn to it thanks to its ageless charm, rich history and pleasant temperatures.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Verona blends its art, culture, and history almost magically; a renowned example of the city’s ancient past is the Arena di Verona. In this Roman arena, concerts are held all year round.
Meanwhile, the Piazza delle Erbe market has colourful cafés and stalls, perfect for immersing yourself in the local culture.
Verona is filled with architectural wonders, so you’ll have to visit the famous Scaliger Tombs and Juliet’s House.
As with almost any Italian destination, Verona is also a culinary paradise with many regional foods offered in the traditional restaurants called ‘osteria’ and ‘trattoria’.
