Unique £12 campsite at one of Britain’s most famous destinations has waterfront views and real-life monster hunt
THERE'S a campsite in the UK right in the heart of one of the UK's most-loved destinations - and pitches cost just £12 per night.
The rising cost of holidays means more people are considering vacations closer to home, with camping becoming a popular choice among UK holidaymakers.
Simon McGrath, who is the author of Camping with Kids, and was the editor of Camping & Caravanning magazine for nearly 10 years, works for The Camping and Caravanning Club - an organisation involved with all aspects of camping.
With his ample experience and passion for camping, it's safe to say Simon knows what makes a campsite tick.
The Camping and Caravanning Club has nearly 100 club sites across its network, including several that can be found in unique and interesting locations in the UK.
One site that Simon praised for being fun and different is set on the shores of Loch Ness.

At just an hour away from Inverness, the Loch Ness Shores Club Site is an ideal spot for UK holidaymakers who are on the hunt for outdoor adventures.
Simon told Sun Online Travel: "It's a wonderful club site that's actually on the shores of Loch Ness.
"It's peaceful and ideal for things like canoeing and walking, and let's face it this is Nessie country, you know, try and spot the monster, it's a lovely lovely site."
The campsite, which is located on the loch's south shore, near the village of Foyers, has both non-electric and electric grass pitches.

Hardstanding pitches, including those with an electric hook-up, are also available to book on the site, as well as glamping pods and dens.
The campsite has plenty of facilities, including a shower and toilet block, washing machines and a dishwashing room.
There's also a children's play area, a designated dog walking route, and a spot where holidaymakers can go fishing - although a permit may be required.
Because of its location on the shores of Loch Ness, campers are encouraged to be on the lookout for the famous monster.
Holidaymakers can also canoe on the Loch.
In addition to Loch Ness, other nearby attractions include Urquhart Castle - a 13th century castle overlooking the loch.
Once one of the largest fortresses in Scotland, legend has it that there are hidden caves under the castle, which are said to be the home of the Loch Ness monster.
Other attractions include the Falls of Foyer, a nearby waterfall, and the Loch Ness Centre.
The rural campsite has been praised by holidaymakers in online reviews.
One person wrote: "A lovely site that's very well kept. The shower facilities were spotless and modern, and the staff were extremely nice and helpful."
Another said: "A stunning pitch looking over Loch Ness, a very quiet site, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, they were very friendly and efficient, and we will definitely be returning."
A third person added: "A mere 100 yards from reception, you can walk along the edge of Loch Ness.
"In the evening, you're surrounded by beautiful scenery in every direction. The shop is well stocked and it serves coffee and cakes."
Pitches for Camping and Caravanning Club members start from £11.80 per adult per night, while non-member prices are a little more expensive.
Sun Online Travel have found four-night stays for a family of four, including two adults and two children, for £198, which works out as £12.50 per person per night.
