This year, the February half-term in England and Wales should run between Monday, February 12 and Friday, February 16.

That said, term dates can vary across the country, so it’s worth checking with your child’s school, the  or your local council’s website.

Here are the best kid-friendly events happening during the half-term:

1. Alton Towers

The famous Pirate Takeover is returning to Alton Towers next month.

The half-term exclusive event will run from February 10 to February 25 with brand-new shows, performances and interactive activities.

‘Battle Galleons Seadog Starkey’s Sailing School’ and ‘A Treasure Chest of Entertainment & Shows’ are the new events for 2024.

Kids will board a ship, travel the high seas, and face off against pirates who are eager to take hold of the treasures before you do.

On top of the exclusive events, you will have unlimited access to more than 40 rides and attractions at the park.

Tickets to the theme park and Pirate Takeover event start , while short breaks are available this February.

The overnight stays include breakfast, park tickets, access to the waterpark, and nine-hole crazy golf.

2. LEGOLAND

Legoland Windsor has announced that it will bring back Brick Days on a few dates in February and March.

The park will host events from February 10, 2024, to March 11, 2024, including 'build challenges' and brick-building workshops.

Plus, a ‘Brick Factory’ performance will be on at the Miniland Stage.

Visitors will be able to enjoy over 30 rides, attractions, and other experiences at the Windsor theme park in addition to the brick-themed activities.

Little ones could earn their own LEGOLAND driving licence at LEGO City Driving School or even practice their ninja skills at the LEGO Ninjago attraction.

Enjoy the ultimate LEGO sleepover at our Resort Hotels, where imaginations have no bedtime!

Tickets for Brick Days start online, while all kids under 0.9 metres go free.

You could also book overnight stays in a LEGO-themed room with breakfast, one-day park entry, and access to the Pirate Splash Pool and LEGOLAND playroom, costing .

3. Chessington

During this half-term, visitors to Chessington can explore the wildlife trail and listen to stories from expert zookeepers.

Little ones will be able to get up close and personal with over a thousand animals or dive into an aquatic journey in the SeaLife Aquarium.

The zoo is home to more than 1,000 animals, so even though the rides and attractions will be closed during the half-term, children will have plenty to explore.

They can also wander the resort on the exclusive Animal Trail and graduate as a Chessington Ranger.

Tickets to the zoo are available this half term.

Alternatively, short breaks cost and include overnight stays at one of the Resort Hotels, meet & greets with JJ and Cody from CoComelon, dance-alongs, games and more.

4. Paultons Park

Paultons Park has announced that starting next month, its ‘Paultons Break’ events will start again.

Beginning on February 10, 2024, guests can explore the Peppa Pig World and find beloved characters like Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club, The Queen’s Flying Coach, Grandpa Pig’s Little Train, and Peppa’s Big Balloon.

Children can also take advantage of play areas and meet-and-greet opportunities with George and Peppa Pig themselves.

However, Paultons Park offers more than just Peppa Pig World. One of the attractions is Tornado Spring, which takes place in a 1950s Midwest desert vacation town.

Other themed worlds include the Lost Kingdom, Critter Creek, and Little Africa.

Park entry is available from £43.50pp, with kids under 1 metre going for free.

You could also transform your day out into a short staycation in the area, with three-night stays at Shorefield parks starting

5. SeaLife

For children, the SeaLife London Aquarium offers an enchanting underwater day out.

Here, kids can discover species from around the world in 14 themed zones and interact with them in the public feeding sessions and touch pools.

During the half-term, little ones can spot sharks and penguins and walk through interactive displays like Ocean Tunnel.

There are even turtle-feeding sessions behind the scenes, and the ‘Seahorse Hotel’ event is an exclusive for the half-term.

At the Seahorse Hotel event, kids can meet the seahorses while learning all about them and how to keep them safe.
