THE Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris has re-opened after a multi-million pound refurbishment and I was there to explore it in all its opulent glory this weekend.

From the stunning Sleeping Beauty chandelier featuring thousands of hand-crafted crystals that winds its way 11 metres across the ceiling of the grand lobby, to the sparkling wallpapers in the luxurious rooms, the hotel celebrates the finest of Disney royalty.

When the hotel closed in April 2021, the fairy-tale building that spans the entrance to Disneyland Paris was taken back to bare concrete and rebuilt from the bottom up.

The result is the only 5-star hotel in the world dedicated to Disney royalty.

It’s a palatial celebration of all Disney Princesses - and their Princes - from Frozen’s Queen Elsa to Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and more.

But this is no touch-me-not palace for grown ups - children are very much at the heart of the hotel.

The Royal Kids Club is themed around a magical library with interactive books.

Families can enjoy sessions with Disney characters, go on a special augmented reality hunt for their favourite stories or do some Disney arts and crafts.

Parents can leave children in the Kids Club care for up to two hours - perhaps to enjoy a dip in the newly redecorated pool or for a treatment in the Clarins spa.

But even there, special treatments have been designed so the kids can get in on the pampering fun.

The ultimate treat for all wannabe Disney Princesses and Princes is the My Royal Dream makeover, where little ones can become their heroines or heroes.

Available to book even if you aren’t staying in the hotel, prices start from £81 for hair and make up plus a photo shoot.

For £163 your little one will also get a classic costume and for the ultimate package, at £377 there’s the full works including a premium costume and accessories, hair, makeup and even nail art as well as a professional photo shoot.

The 487 rooms and suites are all designed to immerse you in the classic Disney characters.

The 346 superior rooms are chic in silver and blue tones with pearlescent papers and fabrics that shimmer in the light.

There are majestic touches everywhere - from the vast Magic Mirror on the wall that transforms into an Ultra HD TV to the jewelled box that opens to reveal all you need to whip up a tea or coffee.

As well as unique Disney artwork on the walls, the mirror above the desk is styled to resemble Rapunzel’s flowing locks and beneath your feet, the carpet features little royal reminders, from Beauty’s rose to Aladdin’s lamp and Snow White’s apple.

Upgrade to one of the 84 deluxe rooms and there’s some extra magic sprinkled over the rooms - the canopy over the beds transforms at a touch of a button with special LED fabric that changes colour and twinkles before lighting up that special Disney artwork, perfect for announcing to the kids it's time to go to sleep.

Deluxe rooms also come with entrance to a special lounge with views across Disneyland Paris that serves up breakfast and afternoon tea as well as drinks throughout the day.

And for those with cash to splash, the Castle Club is a hotel within the hotel featuring 41 club rooms, 16 signature suites, one Princely Suite and the ultimate Royal Suite.

Castle Club guests have their own entrance and restaurant, lounge and bar.

Again, the theming is totally immersive with the pinnacle being the Royal Suite - reportedly costing more than £9,000 a night  - themed to represent Frozen’s Queen Elsa’s Ice Palace on North Mountain.

There’s a fabulous lounge featuring a grand piano that was used by music legend Michael Jackson when he stayed in the top suite throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

There’s also a vast dining room with a table for 12 and kitchen as well as a bedroom suite with four-poster bed, walk-in wardrobe and bathroom with a whirlpool bath. Its balcony has stunning views over the Disneyland park.

The opulence continues in the hotel’s Royal Banquet restaurant. With portraits of the Disney royals on the walls, the 100Euro (£85.15)per person buffet features gourmet dishes including lobsters and oysters. But the real treat is the chance to meet Mickey, Minnie and their pals - all dressed in their new regal costumes.

And for a real splash, La Table de Lumiere is inspired by the Hall of Mirrors at the Versailles Palace and is the perfect place to dine on fine French cuisine while chatting to a host of Disney princesses.

A premium three-course meal here costs from 120euros (£103)pp with the chance to add three glasses of champagne for an additional 60euros (£51).

And there’s even a Disneyland Hotel Cuvée champagne, produced especially for the hotel by the Maison Pierre Mignon and available in the Fleur de Lys bar that sits alongside the soaring Rotunda lounge with its cathedral ceiling decorated with 632 fleur de lys.
