Lightwater Valley will be opening a new rollercoaster this year

Lightwater Valley was named the country’s best value theme park last year, with that took into consideration crowd levels, queue times, attraction quality, opening hours, and entry prices.

The park picked up a score of 7.9/10 overall and had the most inexpensive tickets, with an average online price of £26 and free parking.

When the report was made, there were 44 attractions and two rollercoasters.

However, a new ride is set to open this year, with an announcement on the

The announcement doesn’t give away too much information about what people can expect from the new ride.

It simply implies a rocket theme that could be suitable for thrill-seekers.

It reads: “Space helmets on, set your orbit for Lightwater Valley and let’s get intergalactic!

“Embark on an out of this world adventure and soar above the park on The Rocket Rollercoaster.

“With gravity defying twist, turns and spins this coaster is perfect for the older kids looking for adrenaline! 3..2..1.. BLAST OFF!”

As well as the new rollercoaster, the theme park is set to open up some new accommodation, although that won’t be ready this year.

Most beautiful British campsites

Earlier this year, plans for 31 brand new glamping pods were given the green light by North Yorkshire Council.

Planning documents reveal that a woodland area at the theme park will be used to house the pods, with an existing disused coach car park also part of the transformation.

Like the new rollercoaster, details regarding the pods are also scarce, and it’s not clear when they will be opened.

Lightwater Valley isn’t the only theme park to be getting new rides this year, with some of the UK’s biggest parks getting updates.

Alton Towers

Thrill-seekers’ favourite Nemesis is set to reopen at the park this year after being closed since November 2022 for refurbishment.

Changes have been made to the ride, with a new paintjob, an updated theme and even a new name.

And these water attractions are also set to open in the UK.
