Bairro Alto is one of Lisbon's most dynamic areas. The streets here have two lives: they are almost empty during the day and brimming with people at night.
Porto
Porto is a "gorgeous city" known for its architecture, historic wine cellars, and riverbank location along the picturesque Douro River.
As the second-biggest city in Portugal, Porto has a lot to see and do.
Similarly, in Lisbon, we'd advise exploring all the cultural locations first and then exploring the shops, restaurants, and bars later.
You should start by wandering around the old Ribeira neighbourhood, a UNESCO World Heritage site boasting colourful buildings and traditional shops.
This riverside location was the centre of commercial and manufacturing activity since the Middle Ages.
Once you're there, around the corner, you'll find the "Port Wine Cellars", where you should stop for a tour and wine tasting.
A little-known fact is that the first vineyards that produced wine in the area are more than 2,000 old, making it the birthplace of the famous "Port wine".
Locals recommend trying the traditional "Francesinha" sandwich when you're there.
This sandwich has beef steak, sausages, spicy linguiça, ham, melted cheese, and sliced bread covered in sauce and served with fries and a fried egg on top.
