Over near the Adriatic east coast of the country, Petritoli sits high atop a hill in the Province of Fermo in the Marche region.

It dates back to Medieval times, with Palazzo Mannocchi the standout feature of the small settlement.

The fortress has swimming pools and can cater for big parties and gatherings, with capacity to host as many as 99 people altogether.

Meanwhile, the village is also home to panoramic gardens, wine growing fields, a Baroque theatre, Roman period cellars, saloons, street squares, gelato bars and other businesses and services.

It’s described as an ideal spot for a unique destination wedding, with a choice of “cozy and charming lodgings” on offer throughout to house all the guests you would want at your special day.

However, if you just want an entire village to yourself, that’s also an option if you’re willing to fork out for it.

There are two main pools for people in the palazzo to take a dip in.

Both are found on terraces overlooking miles and miles of beautiful Italian countryside.

The surroundings themselves are also worth exploring for those who want to cool off, with a beach town not too far away.

Porto San Giorgio sits on the Adriatic coast, not far from the Sibillini mountain range.

The seaside resort is well-known for its pleasant climate and it attracts tourists all year round.

Guests can go for a trip to the seaside during the day, before returning to their exclusive castle accommodation in the evening.

All of this isn’t as expensive as it might first appear, especially if you’re filling the village and getting each person to pay their way.

Three nights in the Medieval village this month can be booked from £5090.

For 99 people, that works out at just over £17pp per night, or £51pp overall.
