Small UK airport launches two new summer flights to Europe this summer

BRITISH Airways is launching two new flights this summer - from a small UK airport.

While the flag carrier's base is London Heathrow, the airline has been adding a number of flights this year from regional airports across the country.

These include two flights which launched over the weekend from Southampton Airport, with BA City Flyer.

Brits can now fly from the airport in Eastleigh to both Bergerac and Majorca this summer.

This is in addition to Faro and Malaga, which already operated from Southampton with British Airways, as well as winter flights to Chambery.

The airport said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "We have a busy weekend here at SOU, with two new summer routes launching with British Airways.

"Fly to Bergerac from tomorrow and Majorca from Sunday."

While Majorca is a popular Spanish destination for Brits, Bergerac in France is often overlooked despite its renowned vineyards and Dordogne river boat trips.

Flights to Majorca start from £180 and flights to Bergerac can be found from £136.

Other British Airways routes from Southampton include Faro, Majorca, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Airlines such as easyJet also operate from the airport, with flights to Alicante, Faro and Geneva, while TUI holidays also operate from Southampton.

Last month, an airline confirmed plans to launch its first UK flights from Southampton Airport.

Chalair Aviation will start routes to Caen in France from June 28.

Flights will operate on Friday and Sunday - making it ideal for a winter break, with 10:30am flights on Friday and 4:30pm flights on Sunday.

Even better, flights only take 45 minutes.

And it's not just Southampton getting some exciting new flights this year.

Budget airline Norse Atlantic Airways is launching new transatlantic flights from London Gatwick to Las Vegas.

It is the first time the London airport will have flights to the US city.

The airline also confirmed new routes from London Gatwick to Cape Town this winter.
