BULGARIA has built a reputation for being one of the most budget-friendly holiday destinations for Brits.

The Balkan country still offers holiday packages from just £258pp this summer, which is hundreds cheaper than other popular destinations like Spain and Turkey.

Sunny Beach, Golden Sands, and Albena are the most visited locations along the Black Sea shore.

These reasonably priced resorts offer many things to do, including cheap dining and drinking, relaxing on the beautiful beaches, watersports and waterparks.

On the other hand, people looking for a more relaxing option should consider lesser-known locations like Kavarna and Nessebar.

The beach resorts in Bulgaria have also been recently described as the "perfect" family holiday destination.

The country has 22 Blue Flag beaches, more than 15 waterparks and many kid-friendly free sights to visit.

One of the biggest waterparks is the Action Aquapark in Sunny Beach.

The waterpark is a hit for kids of all ages, as there's a huge lazy river that goes all the way around the park and lots of mini splash zones.

That said, the country is also an excellent spot for couples and groups of mates.

Bulgaria, specifically Sunny Beach, came in seventh on this year's Holiday Money Report by Post Office Travel Money.

Although Bulgaria finished third last year, it remained in the top ten. It is also the second cheapest short-haul destination, only behind Portugal.

According to the report, a coffee in Sunny Beach should cost around £1.63, while a small bottle of local beer can be purchased for £1.86.

A three-course evening meal, including a bottle of house wine, should cost around £39.31 for two people.

Holiday packages follow suit, with seven-night breaks still costing this summer, and some of the deals even include free child places.
