TUSCANY is one of the most popular regions in the world for wine tourism, with its miles of vineyards making it a must-visit for anyone wanting to sample some of the world's most famous wines.

However, there's another lesser-known and lesser-visited place in Europe that has been compared to the Italian hotspot, only it's much, much quieter and has some fascinating sights of its own, away from the vineyards.

brags about its local drop being "like honey" and claims: "We swear to you that you cannot take more beautiful pictures of rolling landscapes anywhere else in the world.

"The Italian Tuscany is not nearly as beautiful as this place."

What's more, the wine is incredibly affordable there too.

Elsewhere, at one of the area's many vineyards, they found that "a glass of dry Riesling was about 70p".

Wine isn't the only alcohol produced in Znojmo either, with a brewery found within the walls of the town's medieval castle.

Beer has been brewed in the town for more than 800 years, but it's only really since 1861 that it has started to flourish, after production was taken over by a brewer by the name of Tomas Maural.

Today, visitors to the town can head to its brewery in the castle and sample some of its finest tipples, along with popular Czech snacks, including beef broths and dumplings among others.

Away from its culinary output, Znojmo has a fascinating history that extends to beneath the ground upon which its medieval castles and city walls are built.

A warren of tunnels close to 17 miles long across four different levels can be explored under the town.

The maze of subterranean streets date back to the 14th and the 15th centuries and some believe they were initially used for the appropriate storing and transportation of goods around the town.

However, others suggest the passageways played part of a defence system in place in Znojmo, with their plans kept a closely-guarded secret throughout history - none have ever emerged or been discovered.

Along with its medieval past, modern history is also celebrated in Znojmo, with two museums in particular focusing on much more recent creations.
