Introducing Larnaca

Larnaca lies on Cyprus’ southernmost coastline and is the third largest city in the country. Recently, the region has become a mecca for partygoers with the lively resort of Ayia Napa serving up a large number of bars, clubs and cheap drinks. But the region is also home to the second largest commercial port, bringing in visitors all year round and offering a huge range of shops, restaurants and activities. Yet it still retains its status as an area of outstanding natural beauty, with fabulous beaches and ancient history thrown in the mix too. Expect ancient churches and charming independent boutiques.

Getting Around

Lanarca is a small town and it’s pretty easy to walk around it without becoming tired. Taxis are legally-bound to use meters, but this doesn’t stop them trying their luck, so it’s wise to only get into taxis that employ meters. There are regular buses connecting the port, city centre and sea front. Tourist buses are great for anyone wishing to enjoy epic views and find out more about the history of the area. These can usually carry around 100 people at a time. Some companies offer tours all around Cyprus and can take you to some of its most noted destinations.

If you do require extra freedom, you may wish to hire a car, which allows you a bit more freedom with getting around as and when you like. Plus you’ll be driving on the left side of the road, just like you would back in the UK! It may be worth shopping around to get the best deal as there are many hire companies to choose from. Chances are you’ll spend a great deal of your time travelling around on foot.
