Introducing Marrakech

Get ready to experience bustling souks, aromatic spices, royal gardens and a scorching climate all in one place on a Marrakech holiday. Nicknamed the ‘Red City’ due to the rusty coloured bricks that it’s built from and surrounded by the remarkable Atlas Mountains, this is a holiday destination that really is like no other. Rich in culture and history, and brimming with fascinating museums and landmarks, Marrakech offers something for everyone.

Find yourself mesmerised by the snake charmers, explore the souks brimming with local treasures and admire stunning landscapes, colourful parks and sun-drenched beaches essential to switch off and fully immerse into holiday mode.

Getting Around

Your options are varied when it comes to getting around Marrakech. There are plenty of ‘petit taxis’ (small yellow cars) to choose from, but make sure you agree how much your journey is going to cost before you get in as some drivers are more honourable than others. You can view a number of the main attractions by getting around on foot, and there are buses available if your legs start to flag. If you fancy trying out a more novel mode of transport, why not consider using a ‘caleche’? Caleches are small horse-drawn carriages, and you can usually find scores of them at the Square de Foucauld.

Tourist buses are also in operation, and you can again climb on board at the Square de Foucauld. Commentaries in various different languages are available, with the vehicles taking you all around the outskirts of town. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, it will be valid for 24 hours, so you’re free to hop on and off at your leisure – just be wary that they do stop running in the early stages of the evening. Don’t rule out bicycle hire services either, cycling round the souks can be a great source of fun!
