Currently closed, the campsite is undergoing a €26million (£21million) renovation which will make it a five-star resort.

Many of the upgraded caravan pitches will have their own private swimming pools with sea views.

The campsite said they were "reducing the resort’s capacity" to add more green space and areas.

There will also be a communal pool complex with sunloungers and umbrellas.

What is a camping holiday in Croatia like?

Travel writer Mary Novakovich recently tried it out for herself - here's what she thought.

"Staying at Arena One 99 Glamping, the grown-up, stress-free camping was on a more intimate scale.

"By this I mean luxury safari tents equipped with en-suite bathrooms, with their own kitchens, air conditioning and wooden decking overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

"You’ll be immersed in pine trees at the glampsite with the soothing fragrance of rosemary and lavender filling the air.

"Make sure to visit the welless area and its five outdoor hot tubs, with treatment rooms in tepee tents, yoga platform and woodland sauna."

On the island of Pag in Croatia, there are 180 pitches with swimming pools - and some of the pitches start from £18 each.
