DISNEY CRUISE LINE is sure making a song and a dance of its newest ship.

Disney Treasure, the latest ship in a six-strong fleet, did not arrive with the traditional fireworks last week, but hundreds of colourful drones lighting up the sky in a theatrical naming ceremony in New York City.

Now, the 4,000 passenger luxury liner has set sail for Port Canaveral in Florida, where she will begin her first voyage, for seven nights around the Caribbean.

But this sun-drenched itinerary, ticking off Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island in the Bahamas – is not what is unique about this liner.

Treasure is a theme throughout the ship.

Guests are welcomed into the grandest of Grand Halls.

A bronze statue of Aladdin and Jasmine riding a magic carpet is at the centre, under a Middle Eastern-style chandelier.

Surrounding pillars are embellished with shimmering mosaic.

Mariachi bands

As with all things Disney, no detail is spared – from the hidden Mickeys that eagle-eyed fans will spot in carpets throughout the ship to the skeleton fish swimming in the tank at the Haunted Mansion Parlor (more on that below).

One thing fans won’t be able to catch on any other ship is the West End style show Disney The Tale of Moana, based on the 2016 movie – I’ll offer no spoilers here, though.

And lovers of the film Coco, or Mexican grub, will want to make a beeline for the Plaza De Coco, the first of its kind on any ship, with a stage at the restaurant’s centre hosting live mariachi bands and hip-twisting dancers.

The Mexican-themed restaurant, serving crunchy croquettes and creamy guacamole, is one of three dining experiences on a rotational package which allows cruisers to dine with the same waiter each evening.

Worlds of Marvel and 1923 are the other two.

Another sparkling feature, on deck three, is the Haunted Mansion Parlor.

It’s the first and only bar themed on the popular Disney parks attraction, with moving paintings, sinister waxworks and cocktails.

And there are theatrical soft drinks, too, for the kids (see @thesuntravel on Instagram).

Favourite features from sister ships that have made their way on to Treasure include high-speed water coaster AquaMouse, and the Worlds of Marvel Restaurant.

Plus, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will open its doors to young princes and princesses for a regal dress- up session, Disney style – and the Oceaneer kids’ club, a highlight on all six ships, will have kids bursting with excitement.

Even the club entrance, a spinning slide leading to a lower deck, screams Disney magic.

It might just be Disney’s snazziest ship yet.

But the cruise line will double its fleet in the next decade, including two new ships launched next year.

A seven-night sailing on Disney Treasure is from £2,494pp, departing Port Canaveral, Florida, on September 20, 2025 and including flights from Heathrow.

Price is based on two adults sharing an indoor cabin and includes taxes, fees and port charges.
