Flights from both London Southend and Bristol airports will fly to Almeria next year with the budget airline.

The port city is often overlooked by Brits who head to Barcelona or Madrid instead.

Found on the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, it is around two hours from Malaga and Alicante.

Don't expect much rain - the city is in the Almeria province which has some of Europe's driest climates with temperatures above 20C even in December.

It's main attraction is the 16th century Moorish fortress that has the best views of the city.

La Alcazaba is free to visit for Europeans, although Brits will now have to pay a few euros to enter.

Or there is the Barrio de la Chanca, a small quarter of the old town where colourful houses are built into the caves.

Otherwise there is the Zapillo Beach and San Miguel Beach in the city, with a long stretch of sand near the port.

Or in Jovellanos, a tapas bar lined street, expect a free dish with every drink, such as ham, mushrooms or anchovies.

If you want to explore just outside of the city, there is the nearby Tabernas Desert which has been used to film famous Hollywood blockbusters.

Indiana Jones, Doctor Who and Game of Thrones all used the desert as a filming destination.

Also there is Oasys, a 'theme park' with original sets and museums as well as pools and slides.
