PAPHOS
THE five-star Cali Resort and Spa in Cyprus briefly opened briefly last year and will be back with a bang in March.
Just 300 metres from the golden sands of Coral Bay Beach, north of Paphos on the western coast of the island, the sprawling resort is home to two lovely pools, including a large outdoor pool with sun-loungers rising out of the water on stilts.
The hotel’s name, Cali, is adapted from the Greek word Kallos, meaning “most beautiful” — and it’s not hard to see why when you catch a glimpse of its rustic, nature-inspired interiors.
Tuck into buffet-style feasts at the main restaurant, with live cooking stations.
Or gorge on Japanese fusion dishes at Fiki Restaurant, with sushi, dim sum and tempura goodies.

The private villas and quiet location, in the secluded region of La Caleta, make the resort ideal for honeymooners and couples.
There will be two high-quality restaurants on site — one offering panoramic island views, the other with a set menu featuring classic cuisine from the Canary Islands.
Also on site will be a wellness centre with gym, sauna, yoga patio and four treatment rooms.

BAY OF BISCAY
SPAIN is a firm holiday favourite of us Brits, and the Palacio Bellas Artes Hotel in the San Sebastian region of Cantabria, due to open late next year, will give us even more reason to visit.
Part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, the property is a distinctive example of the local Basque region’s traditional architecture, built in 1914 and having once operated as the Fine Arts Theatre.
Swish renovation works will transform the building into a hotel with 81 airy guest rooms, a gym and a restaurant with a bar.
Travellers will be well-positioned to take advantage of the Basque region’s famed gastronomy such as tapas and pintxos, as well as an international film festival and annual summer jazz showcase.
