The plans have been put to the local council and if accepted, works could start this summer.

The complex hopes to open by 2027.

It hopes to increase people visiting the area, with the nearest station being South Greenford.

Currently on the site is the closed Gurnell Leisure Centre which shut during the pandemic, although this will be demolished.

Ealing Council Leader Peter Mason said, “We want a destination leisure centre to serve residents, families, and the next generation of sporting champions. This radically different masterplan reflects that vision."

Polly Knewstub, Cabinet Member for Thriving Communities,  “The new masterplan promises a modern, high-quality leisure that is a gateway to health, wellbeing, and enjoyment for our community.

"There is a great mix of activities for all, a choice of pools for all swimming levels and improved parkland which will provide new opportunities for activity and socialising.”

Elsewhere in London, a neighbourhood is getting a huge £10billion renovation.

The Earls Court area was once known for being popular with musicians, and was the home of David Bowie's first performance.

The huge redevelopment includes a large kids playground and climbing attraction, as well as gardens, restaurants, and 'cultural venues'.

More lounges, ticket barriers and cycle storage as well as seven new lifts, double the number of escalators and new "landmark" entrances have all been revealed.

Also in London is the British Museum - one of the country's largest free attractions.

London's best pubs

The Sun's Head of Travel (Digital) Caroline McGuire has named some of her favourites and why.

LONDON is chock full of fantastic pubs.

Whether you're looking for an old man's boozer, a gastro pub or a cosy pitstop with a roaring fire, there is the perfect pub for everyone in the capital.

My top tip? Try and avoid the ones in the tourist spots of Covent Garden, Leicester Square and so on, unless you've got a recommendation. As no self-respecting Londoner would be seen dead in those.
