Images of Super Nintendo World theme park being built for the first time… and it looks like a dream come true for Mario fans

NINTENDO fanatics can now turn their gaming fantasies into reality thanks to a new theme park opening in Japan.

Sneak preview pictures of the Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Osaka have surfaced.

Officially it is launching in 2020, but photos have emerged of scenery at the Universal Studios in Japan.

The parks official Twitter account tweeted images, complete with piranha plants, brick blocks and bright green turf.

A video also posted shows that real-life Mario was on hand to help with a special groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday.

This marks the start of work on the park.

Other images uploaded to the Facebook page for @LCASTUDIOS_USJ show it is work in progress.

The designated spot is a building site.

The attraction will include Donkey Kong and Mario Kart themed rides.

The Nintendo-Universal partnership was first unveiled in November.  

Nintendo said the park will be “expansive, immersive and interactive” so people will “feel as if they are playing inside their favourite games”.
