Cheap entry and accommodation at Disney World… How to save THOUSANDS on a family holiday of a lifetime

Discount flights, hotels and theme park tickets, plus free food and drink are all available through online deals

A TRIP to a Disney theme park is supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime for most children… and a fair few adults too.

The holiday doesn't come cheap – a holiday for a family of four can easily run into several thousand pounds - but by researching carefully before buying it is possible to knock thousands off the price too.

For example, Walt Disney World in Florida are currently to holidaymakers where they get free meals during their entire stay, plus a $200 gift card and a 14-day ticket for the price of a seven-day ticket.

The added extras are available to anyone who books a Disney Moderate, Deluxe- or Deluxe Villa and ticket package at Disney Deluxe Resorts, for a minimum of five nights in 2018.

Staying at a Disney Resort comes with a number of perks, like extended theme park hours, early access to Disney FastPass and complimentary theme park parking, but it is nearly always pricier too.

The Disney Resorts also offer discounts throughout the year on their all-inclusive packages, room only deals and annual passholder offers.

For example, they are currently offering on rooms at certain Walt Disney World Resort hotels from August 1 - October 7 this year.

There are also cheaper ways to enjoy a Disney holiday.

Staying at a hotel away from the resort will almost always be less expensive and they are more likely to come with discounted flights.

For example, a 14-night stay at the Radisson Resort Orlando with flights and transfers this November costs from £699pp based on four people sharing.

If you really want to save money on accommodation, the cheapest option is to camp.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is set in 750 acres of pine and cypress forest and a can accommodate a camper van and up to two tents from as little as $60 a night.

The campsite even counts as a Disney resort, so you can make use of the exclusive , the theme park’s meal plan that allows you to pay in advance for all of your meals in the resort for a fixed price.

In addition, you can then buy your theme park ticket from an authorised resell website, or during a sale on Disney’s own website.

Sites like sell tickets for a discounted rate to the usual online price, with up to $68 dollars off Walt Disney World Resort and $53 off Universal Orlando Resort.

A six-day Magic Your Way ticket is currently being offered for $394.35 for adults and $373.58 for kids.

A UK ticket website called also offers discounted tickets and offers to match any other theme park entry fare on offer for multiple attraction around the state, including Disney and Universal Studios.

Their customers don’t get charged credit card fees and are all given free delivery.

Flights can also be cheaper if you are careful – for instance, a detour via Atlanta from the UK can cut the cost of flights significantly during peak holiday season.

Pushchairs cost $15 a day to rent inside the parks, but you can buy a cheap one for almost from budget American supermarkets like Walmart.

The mark up on food and drink is also huge, so visitors should think about packing some snacks and bringing refillable water bottles in from outside the park.
