THE world's number one water park is not too far from home.
Siam Park in Tenerife beat water parks from further afield in America, Brazil, Bali and Dubai to be crowned best in the world.
set out a list of the top ten waterparks in the world as part of their Travellers’ Choice Awards for Amusement Parks and Water Parks.
The travel planning and booking site used an algorithm to chose the winners that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for water parks worldwide, gathered over a year long period.
Winner Siam Park was the only waterpark in Europe to make the top ten.
Beach Park in Brazil came runner up while Waterborn Bali, in Bali placed third.
Brazil had a total of three waterparks on the list, as did the United Arab Emirates, while America had two attractions featured in 6th and 9th position - both of them in Orlando.

1. Siam Park, Tenerife, Spain
Opened by the Princess of Thailand in 2008, Siam Park really is royalty among waterparks.
It boasts over 30 breathtaking rides and holds several world records, including the creation of the world’s largest man-made wave.
2. Beach Park, Aquiraz, Brazil
Spread out across a massive 42 acres, Beach Park is the largest water park in Latin America and has something for everyone.
As well as pools, saunas, ecological walks and artificial rapids the park also features a 14 storey water slide the hardened adrenaline addicts.
3. Waterbom Bali, Kuta, Bali
Set in 3.8 hectares of landscaped tropical parks, Waterbom prides itself on being 68 per cent garden.
In between making the most of the lush surroundings and world-class rides, you can sip on a tropical drink at the park’s swim-up bar.
4. Aquaventure Waterpark, Dubai
Aquaventure is a waterpark like no other.
Thrillseekers can get up close and personal with a shark or ride a giant zipwire, while sunseekers can kick back in 700 metres of pristine private beach or the park’s exclusive seating areas.
5. Thermas dos Laranjais, Olimpia, Brazil
Over 260,000 square metres in size, Thermas dos Laranjais is a 15,000 capacity waterpark with more than 50 attractions.
They also have two artificial beaches and a surf wave machine - after all it’s in Brazil.
6. Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, Orlando, United States
Typhoon Lagoon, which opened in 1989, is one of the most visited water parks in the world.
Hardly surprising, as the park is home to one of the world's largest outdoor wave pools, where guests can hang ten in a private surf lesson.
7. Hot Park, Rio Quente, Brazil
Hot Park is the largest water park in South America, and as the name suggests, it prides itself on being the only one to guarantee warm water.
With activities like mini golf, abseiling and climbing on offer, Hot Park is the perfect family attraction.
8. Wild Wadi Waterpark, Dubai
Located next to the stunning Burj Al Arab hotel, Wild Wadi offers 30 rides and attractions for all the family.
If chilling out is more your thing you can book one of the nine VIP cabanas, complete with premium sun loungers.
9. Aquatica Orlando, Orlando, United States
Aquatica Orlando is the sister park of SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove, and features a southern Pacific theme.
The park’s signature attraction is Dolphin Plunge, two enclosed body slides that pass through a pool containing a pod of dolphins.
10. Yas Waterworld, Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi
Yas Waterworld is home to 45 rides, slides and attractions, which range over four different thrill levels.
The highlight is a hydromagnetic-powered six-person tornado waterslide.
