IN THE BAG

Teleporting luggage app lets holidaymakers pay someone £21 to take their suitcases from their hotel to the airport

New 'teleporting luggage' service meets you at the airport and take your bags to your hotel

FROM lost luggage woes to having to drag your bags around on foreign public transport, suitcases are the last thing that you want to be worrying about on holiday.

But baggage nightmares could soon be a thing of the past, thanks to a new think called "teleporting luggage".

that a US firm called Luggage Teleport has come up with the idea of teleporting your luggage to your hotel for you.

When you arrive at your holiday destination, their staff will meet you at the airport and take your bags to your hotel.

Then on your last day of holiday, they'll sort it out so that you can enjoy your last day properly by whisking away your luggage from the hotel after you’ve checked out.

So instead of carting luggage around the beach or the city, the company will instead meet you at the airport with the bags - so you can head straight to check in.

The company uses special locks to secure your bags and they send you snaps of your luggage so that you know when it’s arrived, too.

For the eternal worriers, there is also an app that tracks the exact location of your bags.

The service has only started in two US cities at the moment - San Francisco and Las Vegas - but there are plans to roll it out globally if it proves to be a success.

If the service comes to Europe, it could transform holidays.

Tourists would be able to hit holiday hot spots on their first and last day of the trip instead of either carting luggage around or having to head straight to a hotel for check in.

The service costs £21 for two bags, with £7 per additional bag.

While there are other similar services running in the UK, these are much more expensive than what Luggage Teleport is offering.

AirPortr lets passengers check in their bags at home and will then pick them up from anywhere in London and take them to the airport - for £30 a bag.

British Airways has teamed up with the travel tech start-up to offer the service to flyers living inside the M25 and flying from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City since last autumn.

Passengers flying on Emirates could soon have the same experience - which is being trialled in the Middle East.
