Paris restaurant selling British food is a huge hit with the French – it even does fry ups

L'Entente - Le British Brasserie cooks up classic food like shepherd's pie, rhubarb and custard and lemon posset

IF you’re in Paris then the first thing you’ll want is some traditional French cuisine – unless you secretly want a fry up.

A British restaurant called L’Entente - Le British Brasserie has become a surprise hit amongst Parisian locals – which you might not have expected.

The French are notoriously snobby about food – but the restaurant has become a cult favourite.

Run by Englishman Oliver Woodhead who’s lived in Paris for two decades, it also serves up British classics like shepherd’s pie and lemon posset.

Speaking to the , owner Oliver said: “So many people are telling me they are pleasantly surprised. I never expected to be le spot de week-end but last Sunday the champagne was still flowing at 5pm.

“The London restaurant scene is light years ahead of Paris.

“It’s ground-breaking what we’re doing here – there are 500 registered French restaurants in Britain and countless French-style establishments - in France there is now one British brasserie.”

In the three months since the restaurant opened members of the fashion set including Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs have dined there.

The former French president François Hollande has also been in.

And the restaurant has even been featured in fashion bible Vogue - which is quite the badge of honour.

A weekend brunch could see you eating Earl Grey-soaked porridge with fried eggs and black pudding on toast on the side – for €24 (£20).

Or you could tuck into a shepherd's pie for €17 (£14) followed by apple crumble for €10 (£8).

Oliver told the Telegraph that one very British thing the restaurant insists on is timekeeping.

While many French restaurants will shut on Sunday and Monday, L’Entente is open seven days a week.

Sun Online previously revealed that there’s a Parisian restaurant where people dine completely naked - although keeping your clothes on at L'Entente would be best advised.
