Royal Caribbean to add ‘tallest slide at sea’ to its cruise ship Allure of the Seas in £132million makeover
ROYAL Caribbean have announced a huge $165 million (£132 million) makeover of its Oasis-class ship, Allure of the Seas.
As part of the refresh, Ultimate Abyss - the tallest slide at sea - will be added to the vessel for the first time.
The record-breaking slide already exists on sister ships Harmony of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas, which are both based in the US.
But Allure of the Seas will be based in Europe with Barcelona as its home port, which means it'll be perfect for Brits.
The family-friendly ship will also feature The Perfect Storm, which is a trio of water slides with see through panels so you can catch a glimpse of the views as you go down.
They accompany the new pool deck, which will feature a bigger selection of seats, including daybeds, hammocks and swing seats.
There will also be new whirlpools on the top deck and a new adults-only Solarium.
Adventure Ocean, the complimentary kids club on board, and its teen spaces will also be re-designed.
For older children and adults, there will be a glow-in-the-dark laser tag known as ‘Clash for the Crystal City’ and a space-themed escape room called Apollo 18: Lunar Landing.
There will also be a new Music Hall - originally found on Royal Caribbean's Quantum class ships - which will feature performances from live acts.
Another one for music-lovers is Spotlight Karaoke, which has a main stage as well as private rooms.
It's not just for karaoke though, as the space will also host music trivia and themed nights.
Food and drinks-wise, there's been a few changes too.
Allure of the Seas is getting a new Italian restaurant, Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, which already appears on some of the cruise line's other ships.
Portside BBQ is where you'll find a huge selection of dishes inspired by the barbecue styles across the US.
The pool area is getting The Lime & Coconut bars, and there will be a new Bionic Bar by Makr Shakr where robots will make your drinks.
All of these new features are in addition to the ones already on board, including an aquatheatre for water acrobatics shows, a zipline across the ship, a classic carousel and a surf simulator.
Allure of the Seas will not be returning to the water until next year though, but .
