Silver Dollar City is one of the best theme parks in the world and now it’s getting a new 8-storey raft ride

OFTEN voted one of the best theme parks in the world, Silver Dollar City has announced their new record-breaking new ride - the Mystic River Falls.

The eight-storey raft ride in Missouri will see passengers drop from the top of the "river" and fall over 45 feet to the pool below.

The £19 million ride will feature the tallest drop in the western hemisphere, and will be part of the brand new 1880's themed area of the park, Riverton.

Passengers will travel in eight-person rafts, being pushed through the rapids on a five minute ride stretching over half a mile.

After going up a tall lift tower, which rotates the boat while increasing in height, the raft then makes the final, terrifying descent.

The new ride is set to open next year - but the first pictures show it's already taking shape.

Within the new Riverton attraction will also be Riverton Smokehouse, a large dining area with 450 seats, serving BBQ food throughout the day.

The new themed land will join the White Water, a water park that has over 13 acres of rides and water slides.

Silver Dollar City also has their famous Showboat Branson Belle, which takes passengers around Table Rock lake.

Guests can stay at the Campground with wooden lodges and camping facilities.

The park was previously voted one of the best theme parks in the world by TripAdvisor, coming in 6th place.
