The Oscar-winner plays Phyllis Schlafly, a prominent conservative activist, lawyer and political lobbyist in the FX and BBC drama.

Another added: "Never saw it coming that it’d be Cate Blanchett who’d cause me to rip my tv out, chuck it out the window, jump out of the smashed window onto the tv smashing it further, douse it in petrol, light it up and chuck it back into my house and burn the whole thing down #MrsAmerica."
A third tweeted: "Okay, how is anyone watching Mrs. America and not getting more angry in this moment? I get that it’s really well done and Cate Blanchett is awesome, but is now really the time?!!???!!?? #MrsAmerica."
